He won the Pulitzer Prize for his collection Neon Vernacular (1993) and he is considered by many critics to be one of the most important African-American poets writing today.I know I've pointed to this site before and said pretty much the exact same thing, but it blows my tiny little mind that Yusef Komunyakaa (I could've sworn that last name had an 'e' in it), Jerry Seinfeld and Emperor Hirohito have the same birthday.
