The Pitch: It's like Will You Please Be Quiet, Please meets The Unbearable Lightness of Being!
I know I use this too often as a crutch but I love that Keillor mentions in today's Writer's Almanac entry that it's the anniversary of the day Raymond Carver stopped drinking:
Raymond Carver, the writer who helped revitalize the short-story for a whole generation of readers and writers, quit drinking on this day in 1977. He said, "If you want the truth, I'm prouder of that, that I quit drinking, than I am of anything in my life." That's awesome, isn't it? And the Carver poem at the top of the entry is impressive, too.
